1. Type @[4:0] in a Facebook comment, and Mark Zuckerberg’s name will appear.

7. The program got a lot of favourable reviews that both AOL and Microsoft showed interest in buying it for around $1 million. Also, they wanted to hire Mark to develop it, but he would have to drop out of school, so he refused.
8. He joined a Jewish fraternity, Alpha Epsilon Pi. At a party one Friday night, Mark met Priscilla Chan, a Chinese American from Boston. They would later begin dating. Priscilla Chan later expressed her first impressions of Zuckerberg : “He was this nerdy guy who was just a little bit out there.”

Instagram has slowly been transitioning towards a model where users can interact with its content on the web, and today it has introduced a full news feed for desktop version of the site. Now, when you go to Instagram.com, users can see all of the photos posted from the users they follow, like photos by clicking them, and take advantage of inline commenting.

While Instagram has long maintained focus on providing an excellent mobile experience, it has been building out its web presence ever since being purchased by Facebook. Now, users should be able to get the full Instagram experience on their laptop or desktop — though images can still only be uploaded from your mobile.

Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom wrote that while he believes that photos should be shared while on-the-go, web presence will help users have a fast and simple browsing experience. Instagram says the new feed is live now, though some users are experiencing trouble pulling it up as of this writing.
 

Facebook, the world’s most popular social networking site, has turned nine today. With over one billion active users, the social networking giant still continues to grow, since its launch on February 4, 2004 in a dorm of Harvard University by Mark Zuckerburg with the help of his four friends Dustin Moskovitz, Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum and Chris Hughes.

We all use Facebook on laptops and even mobile phones regardless of the fact whether we like it or not. The addiction to Facebook is very high among people of different age groups.

Recently, Facebook co-founder and CEO Zuckerburg announced a new feature called Graph Search, a tool that utilises social data to help compile results for users. The company also rolled out features like Facebook Cards and voice calling on iPhone in North America to attract users. Users are steadily becoming more active on the mobile edition of the website than the desktop version.

In terms of user count, US, Brazil, India, Indonesia and Mexico are the countries with maximum members on Facebook. It enjoys a huge lead over rival social networks like Google+, Twitter and LinkedIn. It topped 1 billion users on September 14 2012 at 12.45 pm (over 6,27,61,420 Indian users), while it crossed the 500 million-member mark in July 2010. Since February 2009, Facebook has witnessed 1.13 trillion users’ likes, 219 billion photos being uploaded and 17 billion location-tagged pictures.

Facebook often tests new features and designs for a small amount of users before deciding whether or not to take it live for all of its 1 billion active users. Well Facebook is apparently testing out a beeping notification sound that rings out every time someone likes your status or comments on a post.

The new beep sound – a video of which you can find below – resembles that of an instant messenger.

If you are annoyed with the new update. Don’t worry. Thankfully there is an option to turn it off. You can turn them off by going into Account Settings > Notifications. Simply click “View” on the top tab and then uncheck the box that says “Play a sound when each new notification is received.”

Technology has undoubtedly become a major part of most adults lives, we use it at work, at home and on the move. However, it’s interesting to think about the ways in which this has affected the younger generations and how much they now rely on products such as smartphones and tablets too.

Facebook is preparing to launch a new feature for its Messenger app which allows users of the social networking site to place free voice calls to friends. The feature is so far available only to smartphone users in Canada and is buried within the latest update to the app, but it will eventually allow users to make free internet voice calls, known as VoIP calls, to any Facebook friend.

Experts are saying it represents an attempt by the world’s largest social network to dominate the social world by taking on the default calling function in mobile phones, the ‘Daily Mail’ reported.

The new feature comes at the same time as Facebook Messenger rolled out a new feature worldwide which allows users to record and send a voicemail-type message to friends. Working in a similar way to video messaging in the company’s Poke app, users press and hold a red record button, speak their message, and it appears in line as part of the conversation.
