Facebook to Launch Skype-Powered Video Chat Next Week

In the midst of all the noise the new social networking site Google+ is creating on the blogosphere and the internet. Today many users across the globe experienced chat down on Facebook

The popular internet blog TechCrunch today just released a news about a new Facebook Video Chat feature that is said to launched next week. The new video chat product is powered by Skype and works in the browser.

Skype and Facebook already have a serious partnership that integrated Facebook social data directly into the Skype client. Now it seems to like its Skype’s turn now. And so Skype will be coming on to Facebook.

The report is sparse on details about how it will work. Will it require a software download? Will it support group video chats? Undoubtedly it will be a major addition to the Facebook platform. Google+, the search giant’s answer to Facebook, launched with a group video chat feature, Google+ Hangouts. Google is seeing a lot of traction with the feature, but if Facebook can release a video chat product next week, Google+ Hangouts may not seem as revolutionary.

Speculation has also centered on two other possibilities – a Facebook app for the iPad and a mobile photo-sharing tool.

A photo-sharing app would put the social-media giant in competition with a slew of startups, like Instagram, Picplz and Path, that have sprung up in the past year.

Well everyone knows, Skype has been acquired by Microsoft and Microsoft is already a major investor of Facebook and so everything seems to be cooking up pretty well. Google needs to be a bit more firm with its dreams of replacing Facebook. Or else we would say RIP+ in advance to Google+
