Two days back Asianet News channel had aired a sting operation which alleged that church officials had demanded a hefty amount as capital fee for admission in the management quota in Dr Somerwell Medical college at nearby Karakkonam, run by the South Kerala Diocese of CSI.

The event sparked strong protests from the journalist fraternity across Kerala and political leaders cutting across party lines. They demanded urgent action to track down all the culprits.
Earlier in the day, CPI-M led LDF Opposition staged a walkout in the Assembly, protesting government”s ”reluctance” to take action on collection of capitation fee by the Medical College.
